The Africa Center conducts an annual three-week program for mid-level African security sector professionals. This program addresses the roles and responsibilities of professional military and other security sector officers in democratic societies, and enhances leadership skills to more effectively address current and future security challenges.
The Emerging Security Sector Leaders Seminar, targeted for mid-level African security sector professionals, aims to provide the next generation of African security sector leaders with practical and effective tools upon which they can draw to contribute to the their nations’ security and development. The seminar addresses the roles and responsibilities of professional security sector officials in democratic societies—enhancing leadership skills to more effectively address current and further security challenges. It focuses on leadership and national security strategy, Africa’s contemporary security threats, and the coordination of external security assistance.
